IT'S PLAY TIME!!!

So.  It's finally here!  I will  PLAY, painting or sculpting what I want, at least once a week.  On Fridays, in the afternoon.  This is my time, to finally find MY voice.  Don't get me wrong, I love teaching art to others, helping them along in their creative journeys.  And creating works of art that others commission me to do.  But now I will make time for ME in there as well. 
And so, the adventure begins!! 

This is my first subject!!  


I have had this taped to my drawing board for what seems like YEARS, casting longing glances in it's direction before settling down to work on yet another deadline. Yes.  For someone else.  


I began this color pencil portrait of my daughter Amber, oh so many years ago...  (1999, I think)  And (sigh) I didn't photograph the progress before this stage.  It's based on a favorite photo I took of her many years ago.


There is more to do.  This is about half way finished, maybe a little beyond.  And some much needed changes are in the works.  This is an old scan.  I have worked on the painting a bit since then, watch for the image coming up in my next post!
